TSR are recruiting on behalf of a top 10 housing developer for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
Purpose of the Role:
The main purpose of the role is to be a key member of the Regional Commercial Team in delivering profitability for the region through contractor procurement, cost planning and control, and general commercial input through the private development process. To understand, implement and adhere to SHWQ policy and strategy.
Main Duties / Accountability:
Increase Trade Contractor Base
Identify new Trade Contractor Partners
Meet and explain the Homes culture and ‘all risk’ packaging
Obtain prices on standard house types on partnering agreement
Improve relationships with existing Trade Contractors, resolve issues that may arise and communicate requirements.
‘All risk’ Civil Engineering Procurement
Tender for ‘all risk’ Road, Sewers and Plot works
Negotiate best value packages
Present for approval
Ensure completed developments are adopted by statutory authorities.
Procure New Site Starts
Prestart planning
Ensure timely delivery of technical and design information
Provide commercial input into pre-start meetings
Provide commercial input into pre-start presentations
Produce feasibilities for land negotiations
Update feasibilities throughout the planning process
Produce detailed cost plan for inclusion within ‘Cap
Produce Site-start Budget
Produce annual ‘Bible’ costs
Investigate commercial viability of all modern methods of construction
Monitor & Control Build Costs
Cost-to-complete’ reporting
Manage the implementation of new house types
Support and assist as necessary with the group drive for efficiency savings
Provide commercial input to innovations Ensure trade specifications are current and comply with building regulations

• Excellent level of numeracy
• Computer literate in MS Office Experience
• Previous experience of building relationships with clients/customers
• IT skills including Microsoft packages (advanced knowledge)
• Self motivated/Enthusiastic
• Flexible & adaptable
• Good verbal and written communicator
• Excellent organisation
